ROBINS CLUB UPDATE
3rd December 2021
A year on from the first ever Robins Club draw and I am thrilled at how many of you are still partaking in our monthly draw to raise vital funds for the club. Since I set the Robins Club up in December 2020, we have seen 13 different winners and can announce that in year 1 you have all raised a smashing £1,350 for the club. This is top effort and long may it continue into 2022. Who knows ? Maybe it'll be you claiming the prize money next month.

INJURY UPDATE - TJ Moseley

7th November 2021
With the Robin's falling to a home defeat on Saturday to Millbrook, it was highlighted that up to 10 players were unavailable through injury. Website editor Jamie Bundy caught up with 1 of those on the injured list, striker and long absentee TJ Moseley following his injury in October. TJ was pulled to the ground during a close cup game with Andover New Street and came out of a ground challenge with a severe break of his upper arm.
[JB] 'Firstly TJ, thanks for chatting to me. How are you feeling after your surgery?'
[TJ] 'It's been a little complicated at times with excessive swelling post op, but I am finally starting to feel better in myself'
[JB] 'How did the surgery go for you?'
[TJ] 'It was a success overall however, I was a bit surprised as to how much work the surgeons had to do in the operation but I am confident I will come back stronger'
[JB] 'I understand there was quite a wait from the injury to the surgery, how did you feel about that?'
[TJ] 'Absolutely horrendous! But thankfully I received amazing support from my friends and family'
[JB] 'So now 2 weeks on from surgery, you must be settling in to your recovery plan ?'
[TJ] 'Well at the moment I am unsure what the plan looks like. I am still in a sling but I am hopeful that if the next 4 weeks goes well I will be able to start physio. When that starts I'll just get my head down and do everything I can to get back playing at the nest as soon as possible.'
[JB] 'How much are you missing football?'
[TJ] 'Truthfully, I am missing it a lot more than I thought I would, I think part of that is how well I was performing, [having just come back from an achilles injury] scoring goals and feeling good within myself. I am really missing and being involved with the boys. We've got a great bunch of lads this year both on and off the pitch, so being out of the loop and not sharing the changing rooms with them is something I am missing a lot. I'm also missing all the chats and interactions with the fans and people associated with the club, we have amazing support at Downton and that goes along way to making this club as good as it is'.
[JB] 'You mention the lads there, with that in mind and the start to the season we have made how can you see the Robins fairing this season?'
[TJ] 'Without a doubt I believe we are a top 6 side, with a fully fit side we can beat anyone in this league, so if we can stick together and work hard then there's no reason we can't achieve what we want to.'
[JB] 'Is there anything else you would like to add before we wrap up?'
[TJ] 'I would just like to thank everyone at Downton FC for all their support over the last month. I have been overwhelmed with the support from everyone at the club and it goes to show what a special club this is. I think I owe a lot of people a drink! But all the support has been much appreciated.'
Thank you to TJ for being so open and letting us chat to him. Be sure to say hello to him at the nest as he continues to support the lads from the side line. UP THE ROBINS!

THE CLUBHOUSE PROJECT
29th December 2020
‘The Clubhouse Project’ – the first opportunity in 115 years for Downton Football Club to have its own Clubhouse for parents, players and supporters.
This is a key moment in the history of the football club, and our longer term ambition to have our own 3G pitch, so that all our teams can train and play at The Nest. As well as develop a fantastic social and revenue-earning venue for the football club, proving our ability to fundraise, develop and run a successful clubhouse will be vital in attracting the nearly £1 million of government funding we will need for the 3G pitch and facilities. We are therefore calling on all our parents, players and supporters to play your part in this project.
We have made a good start in the last fortnight, raising over £2,000 from a dozen or so supporters. However, we need to raise a further £12,000 from at least 100 donors in the next 41 days to unlock some crucial match funding from Sport England, and make this project a reality. We would therefore be grateful if everyone could give something, large or small, to this project. There are also a number of attractive ‘rewards’ generously donated by local businesses to encourage our support.
